A Visit to My Grandma’s Village

During summer vacation, I visited my grandma’s village in the countryside. The village is small, with green fields and small houses with red roofs. Grandma has a small garden where she grows vegetables and flowers. I helped her pick tomatoes and feed the chickens. In the afternoon, I played with the village kids—we flew kites in the field and chased fireflies at night. Grandma cooked delicious meals: braised pork, stir-fried greens, and sweet potato porridge. The food tasted better than in the city because the vegetables were fresh from the garden. We walked to the river every evening to watch the sunset. The water was clear, and I could see small fish swimming. Visiting grandma’s village made me appreciate the simple life. I didn’t miss my phone or video games— I had too much fun playing outside. I can’t wait to go back next summer.
